Peter Marconi - SVP Engineering and Support
Peter has over 20 years of experience building teams, products and services for high-growth companies. Prior to Virtual Computer, Peter was a co-founder of two core router companies: Nexabit Networks and Axiowave Networks. He led engineering, product management and service and support at both companies, successfully building, launching and deploying products into carrier networks.
At Axiowave, Peter was Vice President of Systems Engineering and led system architecture, hardware design and customer support, as well as heading development for the Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based optical cross-connect.
As a founder at Nexabit Networks, Peter created a hardware team that delivered the highest port capacity of OC48 and OC192 router interfaces per chassis in the industry. The design and customer success of this hardware platform was the catalyst for Nexabit's acquisition by Lucent Technologies in 1999.
Prior to Nexabit Networks and Axiowave Networks, Peter was Vice President of Engineering at CrossComm Corporation and was responsible for overseeing hardware and software development of branch office and enterprise routers at multiple development sites.
From 1987 to 1994, Peter designed and built high-performance multi-processor systems as a founding member of the Center for High Performance Computing, as well as a product development engineer for Encore Computer Corporation.
Peter holds several patents in hardware architecture and mechanical chassis design. He has a BSEE from Northeastern University and an MBA from Babson College.
