NxTop Center Console Window
The NxTop Center Console is the display interface used by IT administrators to operate NxTop Center. The Console is a web application, using the browser as a display interface to the NxTop Center operating on a server.
Access NxTop Center by using the URL: https://server:8443/MgmtConsole
where server is the DNS or IP address of the server hosting NxTop Center. You will be prompted for the administrator username and password.
The NxTop Center Console window is organized into the following sections:

1. Navigation Panel
Use the Navigation panel to select either a type of objects or a specific object to examine or manipulate in NxTop Center.

The types of objects are shown in gray bars. The types of objects are:
- Overview - information pertaining to NxTop Center
- Groups and Users - individual users and groups, local and/or imported from Active Directory
- NxTops - NxTop virtual machines
- Workbench - Toolkit to examine and optimize NxTops
- Computers - computers assigned to users
- Software Library - software components available for use with NxTops
- Policies - controls for various aspects of how a NxTop performs
When you click one of the gray bars, it opens a tree structure of related objects. For example, the Software library has branches for each type of software object, which can expand into the individual items.
The type of object selected dynamically controls the display in the main panel and the actions available.
Click on an individual item to highlight and select it.
- Information about the selected item appears in the main panel.
- The actions available are those appropriate for the selected item, and if an action is selected, it is performed on the selected item.
Filters: You can limit the limit the number of objects listed using a filter.
To use a filter,
- Click on the filter icon (
) on the bar for the object. - Enter the criteria to be matched. Filters can include asterisk as a lead or trailing wildcard character.
- Click OK.
The list of objects is limited to those that match the criteria entered.
Example: Click the filter icon on Groups Users. Enter *smith to limit the list of users displayed to usernames ending in "smith" (john.smith, tom.smith, joe.goldsmith, dora.blacksmith).
Quick Navigation Between Objects
NxTop allows you to quickly move between related objects. Related objects include hyperlinks on the main panel. Click the link to move to the related object and NxTop selects that item in the navigation panel and displays the Summary tab for the objects.

For example, the Summary tab for a computer displays the registered owner of the computer as a link. Click on the link and NxTop Center displays the summary page for the user. The summary page for the user includes the NxTops assigned to the user. Click on the name of the NxTop to display the Summary page for the NxTop, so you can examine the policies assigned to the user for that NxTop.
2. Main Panel
The Main panel is the large area in the center of the NxTop Center window used to display, enter or edit information about the object currently selected in the navigation panel. The display is dynamically updated to be appropriate for the selected object. If an action uses a wizard pop-up, it is displayed in the main panel.
The image below shows the main panel summary display for a NxTop:

At the top of the Main panel is a set of accordion tabs used to organize the information about the selected object.

Click on a tab to display and use that tab. Each object has at least a Summary tab and an Events tab.
- The Summary tab has name and other information about the object
- The Event tab lists events reported about the object
The help pages for the individual tasks describe the tabs available for each object.
3. Action Panel
The Action panel lists the actions available for the object selected in the navigation window.
If the full list of actions cannot be displayed due to the size of the browser window, the Action panel includes a vertical and/or horizontal slider that can be used to access all of the available actions.
To perform the action on the currently selected object, click on the action bar. The action may open a pop-up window in the main panel or use the main panel display.
The panel may include actions appropriate to the object, but not available at the moment (such as the Delete and Change Password actions in the image); these actions are grayed out. Clicking on a grayed out action has no effect.
See separate tasks for more information about each action.
4. Task Panel
The task panel displays tasks that are currently running or have recently run. Click here for details
