About Virtual Computer

Virtual Computer is now part of Citrix Systems. Read the news here.

Virtual Computer was founded in 2007 by a team of virtualization, systems and security experts. Our singular goal was to use virtualization to make PC’s more flexible, manageable, reliable and secure—without sacrificing the end-user’s computing experience. We accomplished this goal and became a leader in distributed desktop virtualization—and our patent-pending technology has been widely recognized by industry press and analysts.

Now as Citrix, we can set and attain even broader goals around mobile and remote workers.

This acquisition will allow Virtual Computer to accelerate our efforts around client virtualization and enables us to offer greater integration with Citrix’s broad suite of complementary solutions through XenDesktop and its FlexCast delivery technology.

For several years, Citrix has been partnering with Virtual Computer around the open source Xen virtualization engine that powers both NxTop and XenClient. This acquisition allows us to collaborate much more directly, and the combined teams will be able to deliver an incredible solution that radically simplifies and secures corporate desktops and laptops, built based on the NxTop Center management platform.
