Virtual Computer Added to Microsoft System Center Alliance

Westford, Mass. – June 1, 2011 — Virtual Computer, the market leader in distributed desktop virtualization, today announced its membership in the Microsoft System Center Alliance. Virtual Computer NxTop® is the first solution in the industry to work with Microsoft System Center to manage virtual desktops running locally on end-user PCs.
Organizations of all sizes use the Microsoft System Center suite of products for better insight and control of their servers and end-point devices across physical, virtual and distributed environments. Through the addition of the Virtual Computer NxTop desktop virtualization solution, Microsoft customers are able to combine centralized management with distributed execution directly on locally virtualized desktops. For example, customers can use System Center Configuration Manager task manager to quickly build golden images that NxTop can publish to thousands of virtualized desktops. Virtual Computer is also adding functionality that will allow NxTop to provide hardware and software inventory information from virtual machines through Configuration Manager.

“Virtual Computer’s addition to the Microsoft System Center Alliance continues our longstanding commitment to the Microsoft product ecosystem,” said Sham Sao, SVP of Product for Virtual Computer. “We’re excited to be deepening and extending our relationship with Microsoft.”
NxTop’s central management technology accelerates customer adoption of Microsoft Hyper-V on either Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1and enables broader use of App-V. The combination of System Center and NxTop enables joint customers to augment their existing native PC and virtual desktop management capabilities, reducing upfront data center expenses and accelerating return on investment.
“NxTop working in concert with Microsoft System Center offers a powerful new option for realizing the management benefits of desktop virtualization while leveraging existing infrastructure and investments,” said Sergio Klarreich, Director Strategic Alliances, Management and Security Division at Microsoft Corp. “We are pleased to welcome Virtual Computer into the Microsoft System Center Alliance and look forward to collaborating on new ways to help IT teams reduce costs and improve operational efficiency.”
