Simon Graham, Chief Scientist

Simon has over 30 years experience developing and providing technical leadership for complex systems software. Prior to joining Virtual Computer, he worked for 10 years at Stratus Technologies, most recently as Chief Architect for the Avance product line, a fault-tolerant software system based on the Xen hypervisor running on commodity hardware. He was earlier Technical Lead for Stratus’ successful fault tolerant Intel-based Windows program, guiding the engineering change from proprietary system development to a standard Windows platform supporting both 32- and 64-bit operating systems and third party devices, drivers and applications.
From 1995 to 1999, Simon worked as a Consulting Software Engineer for Mangosoft, helping them design and implement a Distributed Shared Memory (DSM) engine for Windows by mapping a 128-bit address space onto local virtual addresses and providing both volatile and persistent storage of data within the DSM. This platform was used to implement a clustered file system providing shared use of storage resources on Windows-based PCs.
Prior to Mangosoft, Simon spent 15 years in various software roles in Europe and the US, focused mostly on networking protocol implementations for X.25, IBM SNA and the OSI networking stack.
Simon has both a Masters and Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgy & Material Science from Cambridge University and is the holder of 3 US patents and joint or sole inventor on 5 pending patent applications.
