The 451 Group Calls the Winner in Client-Side Virtualization

Checkered FlagEarlier this week, The 451 Group released a report entitled “Virtual Computer wins the race for bare-metal client virtualization” that includes their take on our recent NxTop 2.0 release, as well as a snapshot of current industry activity around client-side virtualization.

It is very gratifying to see the fruits of our hard work with NxTop 2.0 recognized by a respected industry expert like Rachel Chalmers, but even more gratifying is the growing industry recognition of something we have known for a long time: building a high quality bare-metal client hypervisor is pretty darn hard!

Rachel notes:

It's not conceptually difficult, but thanks to the zoo of strange motherboards, cards and devices – a far more diverse ecosystem than exists on the server tier – getting the details right is fiendishly hard. Even Citrix and VMware are struggling. First to market with a product and customer wins, Virtual Computer is in an enviable position.

As you may know, the client hypervisor is actually only a piece of what NxTop does.  Much of the magic comes from our equally impressive NxTop Center management technology.  However, unless you have the foundational platform that can be deployed to mainstream PC users to unlock the power of client-side virtualization, none of innovation on top of it matters.

While we wish we had the luxury of sitting back to enjoy the view from victory lane, the reality is that the real race is just now starting.  We may have secured the pole position, but there is still plenty to do to make our early customers successful and deliver further innovation through client-side virtualization.
