NXTop Center

Hello
Can you tell me why the Server (NX Top Center) has to be 64bit? Is it so the server operating system can make use of more than 4GB of memory?
Is the minimum Server Operating System Windows Server 2008 R2 (which only comes in 64bit) or can you use Window Server 2008 (64bit) with SP2.
Are there any plans to have a Linux OS as the server instead of a Windows Server OS, bearing in mind you have made changes to QEMU to support VHD (reference http://www.virtualcomputer.com/opensource)?
Ste
The NxTop Center applications themselves don't requre 64-bit Windows, but NxTop Center leverages Hyper-V to manage NxTop images, and since only 64-bit Windows servers can be Hyper-V hosts that means the NxTop Center must be installed on 64-bit Windows.
NxTop 2.1 is only supported on Windows 2008 R2 not SP2. Earlier versions of NxTop did support SP2 but given the improvements in R2 (especially in virtualization) it was judged to be a better platform for NxTop management operations.
Moving away from Windows as a NxTop Center platform is an interesting idea. In the future we would like to offer customers as much choice as possible, and while there are no specific plans to move away from a Windows Server platform, it is something we continue to evaluate on an ongoing basis.
