Adding Items to the NxTop Software Library
NxTop Center includes a software library that can contain the following types of items:
- ISO files - installation files used to install operating systems and other software on a NxTop
- Virtual Machines (VMs) - pre-installed operating systems used to create a NxTop
- Virtualized Applications - applications prepared to run in a virtual environment
- NxTop Engine Updates - updates for the NxTop Engine
For more details about these items, see their definitions in NxTop Terminology.
NxTop Center does not include the tools required to create ISO files or Virtualized Applications. Your organization should select the tools you prefer, and create the files to import into the Software Library as described below. NxTop Center does include a set of sample Xenocode Virtualized Applications that you can install in your Software Library. See Understanding Virtualized Applications for more details.
Adding an Item to the Software Library

Step One
Copy the item into one of these locations:
- the import folder of NxTop Center, (C:\Program Files (x86)\Virtual Computer\NxTopCenter\File Import) or
- onto the computer whose browser is connected to the server running NxTop Center
If the file is larger than 1.4 GB, copy it to the NxTop Center import folder to avoid timeout issues.
Step Two
Log into NxTop Center using a browser, and click Software Library in the navigation panel.
Step Three
Click the Import action.
The Import Software Wizard panel appears.
Step Four
Enter a Name and description to identify the item.
Step Five
Select the type of Software you will import.
If you select an ISO file, a checkbox appears. Fill the checkbox if the ISO contains an operating system.
Step Six
If you select a Virtual Application, a dropdown appears.
Select the type of virtual application, so that NxTop Center prepares the application for deployment correctly when it is assigned.
Step Seven
Specify where you put the file in step 1:
- Location – select from the dropdown list:
- Import from local system (where your browser is running) or
- Import from Server (the File Import folder under NxTop Center)
- Specify the file:
- From local system: browse to the location and select the file
- From Server: select from the dropdown list of files in the import folder
Step Eight
Click Finish. The Software is installed in the Library, and appears in the list of items of that type.
