General Configuration
Use this tab to configure NxTop Center. You can modify the configuration of various aspects of NxTop Center as described below. You do not have to modify all parts of the configuration; all settings have adequate default values. You do not have to modify all values at once; you can change only the values you want to adjust. Modifications to NxTop Center take effect when you save the modification.
The General tab lists a variety of settings that pertain to NxTop Center. The modification process is described below, followed by a list of each field.
To change any of the values on the panel, use the following steps:
Step One
Select Overview>NxTop Center>Configuration in the navigation panel and click the General tab.
Step Two
Click the Modify action.
The values that can be changed switch from display text to text boxes.
General Configuration Fields

| NxTop Center Host Name | The DNS name of the server hosting NxTop Center. NxTop Engines use this name to connect to NxTop Center.![]() |
| NxTop Engine Client Port | The port used by NxTop Engines to communicate with NxTop Center. For display purposes only; cannot be modified through this panel. |
| NxTop Name Template | NxTop Center uses the template to create a default name for a newly created NxTop. The user can override this value at creation time.![]() |
| Computer Name Template | NxTop Center uses this template to create a unique computer name for each user-instance of a NxTop. This allows multiple users of the same NxTop to operate on the same network without a collision. ![]() |
| The templates provide a means of creating unique names for NxTops or computer names built out of elements as described here. The 15-character limit is for the resolved name, not the template itself. | |
| Disk Mount Location | This is the drive number assigned to disks mounted while a NxTop is running in the NxTop Center Console. Default = M. |
| Repository Threshold | The Repository is where client downloads, backups anddiagnostics are stored. The threshold value is the minimum amount of disk space that must be available for web operations. If less storage space is available, NxTop Center issues warnings and rejects operations that will use space, like uploading backups.
If this field is set to 0, NxTop Center does not check for available disk space. |
| Workspace Threshold | This is the minimum amount of space that must be available in the Hyper-V workspace for NxTop Center Console to operate.

In the event of lack of space warnings:
- In NxTop Center
- delete older backups
- delete NxTops not in use
- delete items in Software Library not in use
- Outside NxTop Center
- delete other files on the server
- move files to other drives
- delete files already imported from the NxTop Center FileImport folder
System Paths
The system paths cannot be changed from within NxTop Center. They can be displayed by filling the System Paths checkbox.
These are the locations where NxTop stores its data.
