Deleting Items from the NxTop Software Library

NxTop Center includes a software library that can contain the following types of items:

  • ISO files - installation files used to install operating systems and other software on a NxTop
  • Virtual Machines (VMs) - pre-installed operating systems used to create a NxTop
  • Virtualized Applications - applications prepared to run in a virtual environment
  • NxTop Engine Updates - updates for the NxTop Engine

For more details about these items, see their definitions in NxTop Terminology.

If you delete an item, it is removed from the Software Library. Its file is erased from the server, and it cannot be used. However, NxTop Center does not allow you to erase an item from the Software library if it is in use:

  • ISO files and VMs can be deleted. Deleting one used to create a NxTop will not affect that NxTop - the ISO or VM is already incorporated in the NxTop.
  • Virtualized Applications cannot be deleted if they are assigned to a NxTop at a NxTop, Group or User level.
  • A NxTop Engine Update cannot be deleted if it is assigned to a computer.

To delete an item from the Software Library:

Steps

1. Software Library on nav panel

Click Software Library in the navigation panel, and then click the type of item you want to delete.

The navigation panel displays a list of that type of item.

2.

Highlight the object you want to delete and click the Delete action.

3.

Click Yes at the confirmation pop-up.

Note: If the item is still assigned (see above), you cannot delete it. A pop-up message appears explaining where the item is in use.

The software item is removed from the Library.
