There are two ways to remove an application from a NxTop:

Removing an application will not remove any user files produced with that application.

Removing a Virtualized Application

Removing a Virtualized Application from a NxTop removes that application the next time the user starts that NxTop.

Steps

  1. Click on All NxTops in the navigation panel.
  2. Find the NxTop to assign on the navigation tree under all NxTops (or Groups or Users) and select it.

    To remove
    a Virtual application for …

Click on the NxTop name under …

All users of a NxTop NxTops navigation branch
All users of a NxTop in a Group Users & Groups > Groups > group name
A specific user of a NxTop Users & Groups > Groups > user name

  3. Click the icon_modify.gif (Modify) action. This allows you to change the NxTop.
  4. Click the Application tab.

The tab lists any Virtualized Applications. Those already assigned to the NxTop are marked with a filled checkbox.
  5. Clear the check boxes of the virtual application assigned to the NxTop that you want to remove.

  6. When you are finished removing applications, click Save Save button.

infoNote: you can add and remove virtual applications and make any other changes to the NxTop while in modify mode.

When the NxTop next connects to NxTop Center, the virtualized application is removed from the NxTop. There is no need to republish the NxTop.

Removing an Application Manually

Uninstalling an application manually using the NxTop Center Console removes the application from the NxTop's base image. This changes affects the NxTop base image.

  1. Click on All NxTops in the navigation panel.
  2. Find the NxTop under the Shared or Custom tree and select it.
  3. Click Start to start the NxTop.

Click in the console panel to use the virtual desktop.
  4. Uninstall the application manually, either from the Control Panel or using an uninstall option for the application from the start menu.
  5. When you are finished removing applications, log out and halt the console, which will stop the NxTop.
  6. Publish the updated NxTop to make it available to users.

When the updated NxTop is downloaded by users, the removed application will not be available.

You can select which published version of a NxTop to deploy. See Deploying a NxTop for more information.

Altering NxTops on Client Computers

Users can uninstall applications on their individual computers (running a NxTop) but these changes will only persist on a Custom NxTop.

Custom NxTops allow end users to remove an application from the base image and persist that change between sessions. Backups retain these changes on the NxTop Center.

Shared NxTop’s do not allow end users to remove applications from the image and have the change persist. This self-healing capability ensures that the NxTop returns to its published state on the next reboot. If removed, an application will reappear when the NxTop is restarted.
