Scheduling Backup Deletion
If enabled by policy, NxTop Center runs a daily task to delete backups that are beyond their retention period for each registered user's virtual machine (VM). The differencing disks for a backup are compressed into the previous backup and deleted, and the backup date cannot be used as a separate restore point. The Administrator can schedule this task to run when it is convenient.
See Backup and Restore for details about NxTop backup structures and processing.
All times selected are based on the time zone of the server running NxTop Center.
To schedule the NxTop Center daily backup deletion task:

Step One
Click on the Overview branch of the navigation tree.
Step Two
Click the Backup tab to display the Daily Backup Deletion Task schedule panel.
Step Three
Click (the Modify action).
The Backup tab can now be modified.
Step Four
To run the Daily Backup Deletion task, fill the checkbox.
To avoid running the Daily Backup Deletion task, empty the checkbox, and jump to the last step.
Step Five
Select the time to start the Daily Backup Deletion task by selecting a time from the drop down list.
Step Six
Select the time to end the Daily Backup Deletion task by selecting a time from the drop down list.
If you select an end time earlier than or equal to the start time, the task will stop on at the appointed time after running through midnight. For example, if you start the task at 10 PM and end the task at 4 AM, it runs for 6 hours through the night if needed.
Step Seven
Click Save.

The Daily Backup Deletion Task will begin and end at the selected hours. It appears in the Tasks panel as a queued task.
